Phil Taylor will begin his bid to win an eighth World Series title in Australia when he takes on Kyle Anderson in the first round of the TABtouch Perth Darts Masters tomorrow.
The 16-time world champion made it seven victories out of eight World Series events held in Australia last week after winning the inaugural Melbourne Darts Masters.
With his retirement from the circuit looming at the end of the season, the 57-year-old now turns his attention to his final World Series event Down Under, with Perth-born Anderson, who won the Auckland Darts Masters two weeks ago to break his TV title duck, awaiting him in a plum first round tie.
Elsewhere in the draw, top seed Gary Anderson has drawn New Zealand’s Rob Szabo, while Auckland runner-up Corey Cadby will face five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld in a rematch from Melbourne last week.
Another Melbourne rerun in the first round sees Peter Wright, who lost to Taylor in the final last week, taking on Rhys Mathewson for a second successive week.
Former Perth finalist James Wade meets qualifier Darren Hayes, who will be making his TV debut after he won a knockout held in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Perth’s Adam Rowe will take on former world youth champion Michael Smith, New Zealand-born Koha Kokiri faces Daryl Gurney and Australian number one Simon Whitlock goes up against Justin Thompson.
