Newly-crowned North American champion Willard Bruguier will face Gerwyn Price in the first round of the inaugural US Darts Masters in Las Vegas today.
The South Dakota thrower edged past Canada’s Dave Richardson 6-5 in the final of the North American Championship yesterday, and with it earned himself a place in the William Hill World Darts Championship later this year.
All eight North American players from yesterday’s tournament take on eight of the world’s leading players in the two-day US Darts Masters, which starts today with the first round (8pm UK time).
Bruguier will meet UK Open and World Cup of Darts finalist Price, while Richardson faces German youngster Max Hopp, the former world youth champion who is making his World Series of Darts debut.
World number one Michael van Gerwen takes on California-based Chris White, while Canadian youngster Dawson Murschell drew multiple time major winner James Wade, and Jayson Barlow and David Cameron take on former world champions Gary Anderson and Raymond van Barneveld respectively.
Reigning UK Open champion Peter Wright will play Shawn Brenneman, while Dennis Sayre takes on another World Series of Darts debutant, Northern Ireland’s Daryl Gurney.
