Gordon Mathers will make his debut in the William Hill World Darts Championship later this year after finishing top of the DPA Pro Tour rankings in Australia.
The Australian held on to top spot in the DPA rankings following the conclusion of the Pro Tour season in Balcatta, Perth, at the weekend.
Reigning PDC world youth champion Corey Cadby and Rhys Mathewson both missed out on the chance to overtake the rankings leader in the last two events, meaning Mathers has secured his spot at the Alexandra Palace in December.
Cadby whitewashed Barry Gardner 6-0 in the final of Event 15 on Saturday, while Sunday’s Event 16 was won by New Zealand-born Koha Kokiri, who defeated Mathewson 6-2 in the decider.
While Cadby missed out on finishing top of the DPA rankings, the youngster did top the DPA World Series Qualifying table, and also clinched a spot, along with Robbie King, in this year’s PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship, where he will be bidding to defend the title he won last November.
