Max Hopp and Martin Schindler, Germany’s Betway World Cup of Darts team, have both qualified for the HappyBet European Darts Matchplay this weekend.
The duo, who together reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Frankfurt last weekend, were among four players to qualify for the European Tour event through the host nation qualifiers last night.
Hopp and Schindler will both be in first round action this afternoon, as Hopp takes on Mike de Decker and Schindler goes up against former PDC World Championship finalist Andy Hamilton.
Elsewhere, Germany’s Erik Tautfest will make his European Tour debut after also securing a place in the field for this weekend through the host nation qualifiers yesterday.
Tautfest will take on Greece’s John Michael in the first round tonight, with the reward for the winner a clash with world number three Peter Wright in the last 32 on Saturday.
Mike Holz was the fourth host nation qualifier and is in line for his first appearance on the European Tour this year, with the German set to meet Scotland’s John Henderson in the first round this evening.
