Mark Webster has backed his World Cup partner Gerwyn Price to be in the Betway Premier League next year.
The 2008 BDO world champion partnered up with Price as Wales edged past Finland 5-4 in the first round of the Betway World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt, Germany last night.
And Webster, a former Premier League player himself, believes on current form his fellow Welshman would get in the field for the invitational event in 2018.
Speaking to Sky Sports shortly after their last-leg win last night, Webster said: “I think Gezzy’s top notch at the minute. I think he’s going to kick on.
“I think if you’re picking the Premier League now, he’ll be on the list, definitely.
“Every time I looked up he was hitting the treble 20. I’m blessed that I’ve got a world-class partner, not just a quality partner, a world-class partner who is kicking on.”
Price finished with an individual average of 115.67, with Webster contributing with a key 124 checkout on the bull, as Wales finished with a combined average of 100.14 to get the better of a tricky Finnish team.
“It was a tough game, it was tough for me, I felt a bit nervous obviously,” Webster said.
“My form is a bit indifferent at the minute, but I kept playing. I was giving everything, even when I was scoring 48 or 140, I was giving everything.
“That’s all I can do and I’m pleased we’re in the next round.”
