BDO world number one Glen Durrant will be aiming to make history when he plays in the final day of the World Trophy today.

Durrant currently holds both the World Championship and World Masters crowns and is bidding to become the first man to complete the BDO triple crown, by adding the World Trophy to his collection of majors.

But after beating Andy Fordham 6-2 in the last 16 yesterday, Durrant pointed out his triumph in the Finder Darts Masters last December and says he is targeting the quadruple.

“To my Dutch fans I’d say the Finders Masters is (in there) as well, so I’m looking for the quad,” he said.

Durrant was pushed all the way by Brian Dawson in his first round game on Saturday as he came through a deciding leg to move into yesterday’s second round.

A more routine-like 6-2 victory over 2004 BDO world champion Fordham helped Durrant to book his spot in the final day of action, but the BDO world number one says Fordham is a player who he holds in high regard.

“I stood behind him there and I was thinking ‘I’m playing Andy Fordham here’,” Durrant said.

“I’m just a huge fan of his and he’s playing really, really well at the moment and that’s really, really nice to see.

“It’s nice to get over the winning line there, he’s a real legend. It’s great to see people are still following Andy Fordham because to see him back at the home of darts (Lakeside) would be fantastic.”
