The reigning PDC world champion Gary Anderson and the BDO’s number one Glen Durrant will face off on the opening night of the SINGHA Beer Grand Slam of Darts on Saturday.

The cross code tournament, which is televised live on Sky Sports, gets underway this weekend with the schedule for the first day of play released earlier today.

The standout ties of the opening day features PDC and BDO players going head-to-head, with defending champion Michael van Gerwen opening his defence against three-time BDO world champion Martin Adams.

Six-time Grand Slam champion Phil Taylor opens his challenge against BDO World Trophy winner Darryl Fitton, while two-time PDC world champion Adrian Lewis takes on 2015 Lakeside winner Scott Mitchell.

Anderson and Durrant collide in the other PDC vs BDO contest in an evening session which also sees Benito van de Pas face Chris Dobey.

Saturday’s afternoon session will see the tournament open with players from Groups B, C, F and G in action.

2010 Grand Slam winner Scott Waites, the reigning BDO world champion, will be in action against number eight seed Robert Thornton, while fifth seed Peter Wright and Lakeside runner-up Jeff Smith face off.

Raymond van Barneveld, another former Grand Slam winner, takes on Nathan Aspinall, and number seven seed Mensur Suljovic is up against Danny Noppert.

Former Grand Slam finalist James Wade opens up against local ace Jamie Hughes, while in-form Australian Simon Whitlock plays Ted Evetts.

Sunday’s play will see the groups play their second matches, with Saturday’s two winning players from each group facing off and the losing players also meeting, with the final group matches split across Monday and Tuesday evenings.

The top two players from each group then progress to the knockout last 16 stage, with the tournament concluding with the semi-finals and final on Sunday, November 20.
