Top seed Michael van Gerwen has pulled out of this weekend’s International Darts Open with an ankle injury.
The world number one, who won his first World Series title in Australia last week with victory in the TABtouch Perth Darts Masters, has withdrawn from the European Tour event for medical reasons.
As a result, van Gerwen’s scheduled second round opponent, either Ryan Meikle or Michael Rasztovits, will receive a bye through to the third round.
The second round tie involving Jelle Klassen and either Krzstof Ratajski or Chris Dobey has been moved to tomorrow’s evening session.
